Online Transactions with Public Authorities

The citizen card allows you to submit forms electronically and gives you insight into transactions and processes. Your name and date of birth are already stored electronically on the citizen card, so you won't have to enter this information yourself when filling out forms online. The citizen card can contain an electronic mandate, which is necessary for carrying out legal transactions on another person's behalf. The electronic mandate can be applied over a service from the so called Stammzahlenregisterbehörde on the citizen card. Transactions can be carried out much faster and in some cases even immediately. All application data are available to the public authority in electronic form and do not need to be transferred to paper forms. Manual controlling activities, such as checking identification documents are no longer necessary.

The digital help site, HELP, is your starting point for all public authority services available on the Internet. The site contains information about public authority processes. HELP offers comprehensive information on the Internet for all public authority processes based on real life situations such as birth, pregnancy, marriage and living arrangements. In some cases, it also enables you to carry out necessary transactions electronically.

HELP strives to be the central hub of information between public authorities and citizens, with a focus on transparency, clarity, understandability, and concentrating on what's important. On the HELP site, you will find useful information on nearly 200 topics on public authorities, necessary documents, applicable fees, deadlines and online forms and templates. Online payments of fees can be carried out using your credit card or with online banking. You can also register with a delivery service in order to receive official documents electronically. Data protection and security have top priority in e-government. The Austrian citizen card model has been distinguished internationally by being awarded the World E-ID and European Data Protection Awards.

Electronic Delivery of Official Correspondence

In the future, public authorities will be able to send you official notifications and letters electronicially upon request. The citizen card is used to prove your identity. Elderly people and those in the workforce will especially appreciate the fact that they no longer need to go to the post office to pick up RSa letters.

You can register for such a service - or both - free-of-charge at
